Biography

After obtaining a technical degree, Francis Vermeulen went to work in Scandinavia for two years. A few years after his return, he decided to give an entirely new dimension to his life, and he started as a worker in a warehouse for the logistics company Katoen Natie.

His selfless service within the organisation soon gave him the reputation of a driven and ambitious problem solver; his effort and leadership capacities didn’t go unnoticed. Nineteen years later, he became European manager and director in the Katoen Natie Group, which in the mean time had grown into one of the most important logistics companies in Europe.

In his search for inner peace and balance, Francis soon discovered the power of self-awareness. With his typical enthusiasm he started to look for means to translate this new impulses for the business environment. His professional and human approach made him the mentor of many newcomers in the group.
That same interest in people and organisations and curiosity for what inspires people, lead to his active participation in activities of workers’ organisations, public initiatives and many commissions.

In 2007 he was asked to speak at a conference in the Netherlands about his conviction that the success of every individual, company or organisation is the consequence of (personal) self-awareness.

The lecture was a success because the lecturer knew how to convey a message and how to make sure that people wouldn’t forget the message. The enthusiasm of the public confirmed Francis’s belief in his vision and method. Francis is now an internationally renowned speaker.
In his first book, ‘Self-awareness in a tailor-made suit’, Francis shares his personal and professional experiences in a clearly understandable language. As a speaker and life coach, he teaches people and organisations to become the best of what they can be in these challenging times of change.
